Active learning¶
An educational approach in which learners construct and apply understanding through meaningful activity, reflection and interaction rather than only receiving exposition.
Core Idea¶
Activity alone is insufficient without cognitive engagement and feedback, techniques vary widely and learning gains depend on alignment, facilitation and inclusive participation. Learners retrieve, discuss, solve, create or test ideas, make their reasoning observable and receive feedback that prompts revision, while the instructor structures tasks around the learning objective. The abstraction is therefore identified by a declared carrier, a transformation or constraint over that carrier, and an invariant that tells an analyst whether the named structure is genuinely present.
Scope of Application¶
Active learning belongs to education and is useful where the analyst can specify the typed education carrier, including objects, relations, parameters, conventions, evidence, boundaries, and comparison targets, then evaluate the learners and learning objective, preparatory knowledge, meaningful task beyond passive listening, individual or collaborative reasoning, produced response artifact or decision, feedback and reflection, instructor facilitation, participation and accessibility design and outcome assessment aligned to the objective are explicit. Clarity¶

Manages Complexity¶
