Aegean numerals¶
An additive sign-value numeral system attested in Linear A, Linear B, and related Bronze Age Aegean scripts.
Core Idea¶
Aegean numerals use distinct signs for decimal place values and repeat or combine them additively to record quantities in administrative documents. Scribes compose place-value signs without positional zero notation, and document context links numeric groups to commodities, measures, and totals. The abstraction is therefore identified by a declared carrier, a transformation or constraint over that carrier, and an invariant that tells an analyst whether the named structure is genuinely present.
