API management¶

Core Idea¶
API management combines gateways, identity and authorization, quotas, transformation, catalogs and portals, analytics, contracts, monetization, change control, and developer support while leaving business logic in backend services. An API contract is registered and exposed through a policy-enforcement layer; requests are authenticated, authorized, routed, transformed, limited, and observed, while lifecycle governance coordinates versions and consumers. The abstraction is therefore identified by a declared carrier, a transformation or constraint over that carrier, and an invariant that tells an analyst whether the named structure is genuinely present.
