Bounded emotionality¶
An organizational-communication approach that permits authentic workplace emotion within collectively negotiated relational boundaries.
Core Idea¶
Bounded emotionality challenges impersonal rationality by treating feelings, care, community, and interdependence as legitimate while retaining limits that protect work and participants. Members acknowledge and express emotion through norms of mutual responsibility, tolerance of ambiguity, integrated identity, and appropriate constraint. The abstraction is therefore identified by a declared carrier, a transformation or constraint over that carrier, and an invariant that tells an analyst whether the named structure is genuinely present.
The load-bearing residual is not the broad topic of organizational communication. It is the domain-specific identity determined by emotional expression is organizationally legitimate and relationally bounded rather than categorically suppressed or wholly unrestricted.
Scope of Application¶
