Class reductionism¶
A critical label for theories or strategies that explain oppression primarily through class while marginalizing other social divisions.
Core Idea¶
The term is usually polemical, so analysis must identify the criticized claim, the role assigned to class and whether race, gender or other structures are denied, subordinated or instrumentally deferred. A framework elevates labor exploitation or economic reform as the dominant explanatory and strategic axis, and critics test what independent mechanisms and harms that priority omits. The abstraction is therefore identified by a declared carrier, a transformation or constraint over that carrier, and an invariant that tells an analyst whether the named structure is genuinely present.
