Consideration and initiating structure¶
Two independent leadership-behavior dimensions distinguishing relationship-oriented consideration from task-organizing initiating structure.
Core Idea¶
The dimensions describe reported behavior rather than fixed personality types, can be high or low independently and do not guarantee effectiveness outside a specified context. Observed leader actions are coded along interpersonal support and task-definition axes, allowing a two-dimensional behavioral profile that can be related to group attitudes and performance. The abstraction is therefore identified by a declared carrier, a transformation or constraint over that carrier, and an invariant that tells an analyst whether the named structure is genuinely present.
Scope of Application¶
