Descriptive Experience Sampling¶
An introspective research method that samples immediately preceding inner experience at randomly signaled moments and refines descriptions through iterative interviews.
Core Idea¶
It targets brief lived experience rather than general self-beliefs, relies on participant training and interview discipline, and its claims remain sensitive to reactivity, recall, sampling and intersubjective validation limits. Unpredictable prompts interrupt daily activity, participants record the just-past experiential moment, and later phenomenological interviews progressively distinguish direct description from inference or generalization. The abstraction is therefore identified by a declared carrier, a transformation or constraint over that carrier, and an invariant that tells an analyst whether the named structure is genuinely present.
Scope of Application¶
