Design system¶
A governed collection of reusable interface components, design tokens, standards, and documentation that coordinates consistent digital-product design and implementation.
Core Idea¶
A design system is an evolving organizational infrastructure that joins visual language, coded components, usage guidance, accessibility rules, and contribution governance. Shared tokens and components encode decisions once and propagate them across products, while versioning and review let teams extend the system without uncontrolled divergence. The abstraction is therefore identified by a declared carrier, a transformation or constraint over that carrier, and an invariant that tells an analyst whether the named structure is genuinely present.
The load-bearing residual is not the broad topic of user interface design. It is the autonomous user interface design identity defined by design and code reuse one governed source of truth with explicit composition, variation, accessibility and maintenance rules.
