Distributed library¶
A lending collection whose items remain held by multiple participants while a shared networked catalog coordinates discovery and borrowing.
Core Idea¶
Unlike a branch system with centralized ownership, a distributed library relies on member-held materials, common metadata, availability status, request routing and trust or accountability rules. Participants register items in a shared catalog, users search across holdings, requests connect borrower and holder, and status, transfer and return records coordinate circulation without one physical repository. The abstraction is therefore identified by a declared carrier, a transformation or constraint over that carrier, and an invariant that tells an analyst whether the named structure is genuinely present.
Scope of Application¶
