Easy Approach to Requirements Syntax¶
A small family of structured natural-language templates for writing clear system requirements.
Core Idea¶
EARS classifies requirements as ubiquitous, event-driven, state-driven, optional-feature, unwanted-behavior, or complex and supplies keyword patterns for each. Template cues separate triggers, preconditions, system name, response, and object, reducing syntactic variation while retaining readable prose. The abstraction is therefore identified by a declared carrier, a transformation or constraint over that carrier, and an invariant that tells an analyst whether the named structure is genuinely present.
