Core Idea¶

Economic determinism explains non-economic social arrangements principally as effects of the mode of production, ownership and class interests. Material constraints and class positions shape resources, incentives and power, which in turn structure institutions and dominant ideas while stronger versions minimize reciprocal causation or autonomy.
