Group Structure & Subgroup Properties¶
← Back to Domain-Specific Families
Abstractions about the internal structure of groups and related algebraic sets, covering subgroup relations (central subgroups, complements, subgroup order), set-theoretic and combinatorial group properties (IP sets, the number of groups of a given order, the axiom of regularity), and applied constructs like group codes and confinement attacks.
10 abstractions in this family — domain-specific abstractions that sit near one another in structural-signature space (k-means over structural-signature embeddings). Each is shown with its short description.
- Axiom of Regularity — The ZF foundation axiom requiring every nonempty set to contain a member disjoint from it, enforcing well-founded membership and ruling out self-containing or endlessly descending membership structures under stated background axioms.
- Central Subgroup — A subgroup contained in the center of an ambient group, equivalently one whose elements commute with every element of that group.
- Complement (group theory) — A subgroup that factors a group with another subgroup and intersects it only at the identity.
- Countably Generated Module — A module spanned by an at-most-countable set using finite linear combinations over its ring.
- Group code — A block-code subgroup of G^n over a finite group alphabet, optionally represented systematically by information symbols and homomorphic parity construction.
- IP set — A subset of the natural numbers or a semigroup that contains all nonempty finite sums drawn from some infinite generating set or sequence.
- Number of groups of a given order — The function assigning each positive integer n the number of isomorphism classes of finite groups with exactly n elements.
- Order (group theory) — The cardinality of a group, and for a group element the cardinality of its generated cyclic subgroup or least positive exponent that returns it to the identity.
- Primitive Semiperfect Number — A semiperfect integer with no smaller semiperfect divisor.
- Small Subgroup Confinement Attack — A cryptographic attack that feeds a small-order group element into a secret-dependent operation, restricting its outcomes and potentially leaking secret information when group validation is absent.
