Service-Quality Rates & Queueing Metrics¶
← Back to Domain-Specific Families
Abstractions that quantify performance and quality in service and production systems, covering queueing and telecom metrics (Kingman's Formula, Grade of Service, Dropped-Call Rate, BCMP Network), statistical process-monitoring tools (Control Chart, Error Exponents), and miscellaneous domain-specific rates like Mean Systemic Pressure and Mean Log Deviation.
13 abstractions in this family — domain-specific abstractions that sit near one another in structural-signature space (k-means over structural-signature embeddings). Each is shown with its short description.
- BCMP network — A class of queueing networks whose permitted node disciplines and routing assumptions yield a product-form equilibrium distribution.
- Control chart — Shewhart, or process-behavior charts) are graphical plots used in statistical process control (SPC) to determine whether a manufacturing or business process is in a state of statistical control.
- Dropped-Call Rate — In telecommunications, the dropped-call rate (DCR) is the fraction of the telephone calls which, due to technical reasons, were cut off before the speaking parties had finished their conversational tone and before one of them had hung up (dropped calls).
- Error exponents in hypothesis testing — Error exponents are sometimes referred to as error rates, due to the connection between hypothesis testing and information theory.
- Grade of service — In telecommunications engineering, and in particular teletraffic engineering, the quality of voice service is specified by two measures: the grade of service (GoS) and the quality of service (QoS).
- Kingman's Formula — In queueing theory, a discipline within the mathematical theory of probability, Kingman's formula, also known as the VUT equation, is an approximation for the mean waiting time in a G/G/1 queue.
- Made-to-measure — Made-to-measure (MTM) typically refers to custom clothing that is cut and sewn using a standard-sized base pattern.
- Mean Log Deviation — In statistics and econometrics, the mean log deviation (MLD) is a measure of income inequality.
- Mean systemic pressure — In medicine, the mean systemic pressure (MSP) or mean systemic filling pressure (MSFP) is defined as the mean pressure that exists in the circulatory system when there is no blood motion.
- Rooted product of graphs — The rooted product is a subgraph of the cartesian product of the same two graphs.
- Service Layer Pattern — Service layer is an architectural pattern, applied within the service-orientation design paradigm, which aims to organize the services, within a service inventory, into a set of logical layers.
- Service management — Service management in the manufacturing context is integrated into supply chain management as the intersection between actual sales and the customer point of view.
- Well test — In hydrology, a well test is conducted to evaluate the amount of water that can be pumped from a particular water well.
