Gender Empowerment Measure¶
A composite country index combining women’s political representation, economic decision-making participation, and relative earned income to estimate gendered empowerment.
Core Idea¶
The UNDP Gender Empowerment Measure aggregates representation in legislatures, professional and managerial occupations, and estimated earned income into a cross-national index of opportunity and power.[1] Dimension-specific female and male shares are transformed into inequality-sensitive equivalents and combined, making institutional participation and command over resources comparable across countries.
