Green infrastructure¶
Plan and manage a connected network of natural, semi-natural, and engineered green-blue spaces to deliver stormwater, heat, biodiversity, recreation, health, and other ecosystem services across scales.
Core Idea¶
Green infrastructure is a strategically planned and managed network of natural and engineered ecological features designed to provide multiple environmental and social services alongside or instead of conventional gray infrastructure. Vegetation, soils, wetlands, waterways, permeable surfaces, and habitat corridors intercept, store, infiltrate, cool, filter, connect, and provide access. Network planning combines site-scale devices with watershed and regional ecological structure. The abstraction is therefore identified by a declared carrier, a transformation or constraint over that carrier, and an invariant that tells an analyst whether the named structure is genuinely present.
