Hazard elimination¶
The highest-priority hazard-control strategy: remove the hazardous material, condition, task or process so the associated exposure no longer exists.
Core Idea¶
Elimination must remove the hazard rather than shift it to another group or lifecycle stage, feasibility is context-dependent and residual or newly introduced hazards still require assessment. A design or work system is changed at the source so the hazardous agent or activity is absent, breaking the exposure pathway instead of relying on behavior, barriers or personal protective equipment. The abstraction is therefore identified by a declared carrier, a transformation or constraint over that carrier, and an invariant that tells an analyst whether the named structure is genuinely present.
Scope of Application¶
