Inventory analysis¶
The systematic classification and quantitative examination of inventory levels, movements, costs and service performance to guide replenishment and control decisions.
Core Idea¶
Inventory analysis relates demand, lead time, ordering, holding, shortage, obsolescence and service measures across items and locations rather than merely counting stock on hand. Transaction and count records reconstruct stock flows; items are segmented, demand and lead-time behavior are estimated, and policy metrics expose excess, shortage and control priorities. The abstraction is therefore identified by a declared carrier, a transformation or constraint over that carrier, and an invariant that tells an analyst whether the named structure is genuinely present.
