Jones diagram¶
A multiaxis Cartesian chart whose paired directions represent related photographic variables so equivalent field of view and image-format choices can be compared graphically.
Core Idea¶
Jones diagrams encode format dimensions, focal length, crop factor and angle of view on coordinated axes; exact construction and reading depend on the chosen aspect ratios and optical convention. Geometric camera relations are transformed into aligned scales, letting a line or point project across axes to reveal equivalent focal lengths and viewing angles. The abstraction is therefore identified by a declared carrier, a transformation or constraint over that carrier, and an invariant that tells an analyst whether the named structure is genuinely present.
Scope of Application¶
