Log area ratio¶
A logarithmic transform of a speech-filter reflection coefficient used as a quantized transmission parameter in legacy linear-predictive codecs.
Core Idea¶
Sign and scaling conventions differ, coefficients must lie within the stable range and modern codecs often use line spectral pairs for better quantization robustness.
