Non-renewable resource¶

Core Idea¶
A non-renewable resource is a natural-resource stock whose replenishment within the relevant human decision horizon is absent or too slow to replace withdrawals, so current extraction reduces the remaining available stock under the declared boundary. Geological, geochemical, or hydrological formation may continue, but its rate is negligible relative to removal on the chosen horizon; use therefore transfers material from a concentrated stock into products, wastes, dispersed forms, or inaccessible states rather than cycling it back at a comparable rate.
Scope of Application¶
