Position line¶
A charted locus of possible observer positions consistent with one navigation observation, whose intersection with another independent locus yields a fix.
Core Idea¶
A line of position converts one measured constraint into a spatial set rather than pretending it determines a unique location. Bearing, range, altitude or depth establishes a curve of possible positions; intersecting independent constraints narrows the estimate and uncertainty region. The abstraction is therefore identified by a declared carrier, a transformation or constraint over that carrier, and an invariant that tells an analyst whether the named structure is genuinely present.
