Core Idea

A strategy is rationalizable when some coherent belief about rational opponents makes it optimal for the player. Strategies that are never a best response are repeatedly removed; surviving choices can be supported by beliefs concentrated on other survivors. The abstraction is therefore identified by a declared carrier, a transformation or constraint over that carrier, and an invariant that tells an analyst whether the named structure is genuinely present.
