Simple HTML Ontology Extensions¶
An early HTML extension scheme for embedding machine-readable classes, properties and ontology relationships in web pages.
Core Idea¶
SHOE is a specific historical annotation language rather than generic semantic HTML, its ontology and instance markup predate RDFa and Microdata and deployment status does not change its syntax and inference intent. Authors attach typed tags and attributes to HTML resources, refer to shared ontologies and state class membership or relations so crawlers can extract a knowledge base and apply ontology-guided discovery. The abstraction is therefore identified by a declared carrier, a transformation or constraint over that carrier, and an invariant that tells an analyst whether the named structure is genuinely present.
Scope of Application¶
