Social ecological model¶
A multilevel framework explaining behavior and development through interacting individual, interpersonal, organizational, community, policy, and temporal contexts.
Core Idea¶
Social ecological models reject single-level explanation by locating people within nested and cross-linked environments whose resources, norms, institutions, and policies jointly shape outcomes. Influence moves across levels through relationships, settings, rules, material conditions, and feedback; interventions can act at several levels and their effects depend on cross-level fit. The abstraction is therefore identified by a declared carrier, a transformation or constraint over that carrier, and an invariant that tells an analyst whether the named structure is genuinely present.
