Spectrophotometry¶
Quantitative measurement of a material's wavelength-dependent transmission, reflection or absorbance by comparing incident and detected electromagnetic intensity.
Core Idea¶
Spectrophotometry measures optical response as a function of wavelength. A spectrophotometer isolates wavelengths and ratios detected sample intensity to a reference, producing transmittance, reflectance or absorbance. The abstraction is therefore identified by a declared carrier, a transformation or constraint over that carrier, and an invariant that tells an analyst whether the named structure is genuinely present.
The load-bearing residual is not the broad topic of analytical measurement. Clarity¶
