Core Idea

Personal relevance can increase attention without making every relevant judgment biased, the effect overlaps the Forer effect and confirmation bias but also covers perceived links between unrelated events and causal claims need controlled evidence. A person maps flexible information onto autobiographical details, notices matches more than misses and treats emotional resonance as evidence, strengthening belief and future selective interpretation.
