Subpersonality¶
Represent a relatively enduring, partly autonomous personality mode that organizes a characteristic bundle of feelings, perceptions, thoughts, bodily responses, and actions in particular situations.
Core Idea¶
A subpersonality is a semipersistent and partly autonomous personality mode that becomes active in certain psychosocial contexts. Situation cues activate a coordinated self-state whose appraisals, emotions, bodily responses, and actions temporarily dominate experience; dialogue or integration practices treat the mode as a workable organization without requiring literal multiple persons. The abstraction is therefore identified by a declared carrier, a transformation or constraint over that carrier, and an invariant that tells an analyst whether the named structure is genuinely present.
Scope of Application¶
