Core Idea¶

A think-aloud protocol elicits minimally interpreted verbal reports during task performance so researchers can study attention, reasoning, and difficulty beyond final outcomes. Participants continuously say what enters awareness; researchers record synchronized actions and utterances, then code the transcript under a stated theory of verbal-report validity.
