Ultradian rhythm¶
A biological rhythm recurring more than once within a 24-hour day, conventionally with a period longer than about an hour.
Core Idea¶
Observed oscillations in sleep, hormones, feeding and performance use different generators and measurement windows; an ultradian label describes period rather than one universal clock. Feedback and oscillator processes repeatedly raise and lower a physiological or behavioral variable within the daily cycle, sometimes nested within circadian modulation. The abstraction is therefore identified by a declared carrier, a transformation or constraint over that carrier, and an invariant that tells an analyst whether the named structure is genuinely present.
The load-bearing residual is not the broad topic of chronobiology.
