Selection-Visibility Gate

Core Idea

A selection-visibility gate occurs when a selector can retain or eliminate variants only to the extent that their consequences are expressed and observable when selection acts. Differences in expression or exposure therefore bias the surviving record away from the generated variant distribution. Variants are generated, consequences differ, a visibility mechanism exposes only some consequences, a selector acts on what is exposed, and retention changes accordingly. Visibility mediates selection; it is not merely missing measurement after selection.
