Mechanisms

• Cognitive Interview or Response-Process Probe
  • The discipline is to probe for disconfirmation, diversify respondents, and pair the qualitative finding with structural evidence before trusting the revised item.

This sourceTreats cognitive probing as a search for overt and hidden questionnaire failures and recommends validating resulting revisions against field performance, independent tests, or other pretesting methods.

• Round-Trip Assessment Redesign Test
  • It is essentially cognitive pretesting applied to an entire evaluation system: walking the artifact as a real user would to expose breakdowns a designer's-eye review cannot see.

This sourceUses target respondents answering and probing draft questions to examine how they interpret and answer them.

Verification

Does it exist? Not checked yet. This entry carries no identifier to resolve. It was extracted from the citation as written in the article, normalized, and deduplicated against the rest of the registry.

Does it back the claim? Not recorded. Neither this nor any other of the 2 citations of this work carries a recorded support check.

Support is checked per citation rather than per work — the same source can be cited soundly in one article and wrongly in another. Per-citation recording began recently, so a citation with no recorded check is a gap in the record rather than evidence it went unchecked.
