Primes¶
- Side Channel Attack
- In hardware cryptography it is timing attacks on cipher operations, power-analysis attacks reading current draw, cache-timing attacks reading what was in a shared cache, and electromagnetic and acoustic emanation reading a screen or keystrokes across a room.
Supported in partVerified against the publisher's abstract
Kocher 1996 supplies only the timing-attack clause — secret-dependent execution time leaking keys — and says nothing about power analysis, cache timing, or electromagnetic/acoustic emanation.
“By carefully measuring the amount of time required to perform private key operations, attackers may be able to find fixed Diffie-Hellman exponents, factor RSA keys, and break other cryptosystems. Against a vulnerable system, the attack is computationally inexpensive and often requires only known ciphertext.”

- Side-Channel Scan
- The name borrows from the side-channel attack in security, where a secret leaks not through the algorithm
This sourceShows secret-key information leaking through implementation timing rather than through the cryptographic algorithm itself.

Verification¶
Does it exist? Confirmed. This work's DOI resolves to a registered record, which fixes its identity. That is all it fixes.
Does it back the claim? Read against the text for 1 of 2 citations: 1 supported in part. Each verdict is shown under its citation below, with what in the work backs the sentence.
Support is checked per citation rather than per work — the same source can be cited soundly in one article and wrongly in another. Per-citation recording began recently, so a citation with no recorded check is a gap in the record rather than evidence it went unchecked.
