Core Idea

Language attrition is nonpathological change or reduction in an individual's previously acquired language associated with changed exposure, use, dominance, and cross-language interaction.[1] Reduced activation and altered competition reshape access, processing, production, and sometimes representation across lexical, phonetic, grammatical, and discourse systems.
