Quantum Energy Teleportation¶
A correlated-state protocol uses a classically communicated local measurement outcome to condition remote local extraction of energy unavailable by the corresponding unconditioned action.
Core Idea¶
Quantum energy teleportation (QET) is an information-conditioned way to release energy at a receiver's site. In its original spin-chain and quantum-field proposals, two regions begin in a correlated ground or vacuum state from which the relevant unconditioned local action cannot extract energy. A sender makes a local measurement, then communicates its outcome classically. The receiver uses that outcome to choose a local operation that releases positive energy to an apparatus in the specified model. The outcome matters because it carries information about correlations that a fixed receiver action cannot exploit in the same way. The classical message is therefore an operative step, subject to causal communication time.[1][2]
The name can mislead if read as a packet of energy instantly flying from sender to receiver. In Hotta's spin-chain proposal, the sender's measurement injects energy; the calculated receiver gain is accompanied by a negative local-energy expectation relative to the chosen ground-state zero. In the relativistic field proposal, positive-energy wave packets from the measurement can pass the receiver before the classical announcement and conditioned local operation. Both are theoretical protocols with model-specific energy accounting. A later superconducting-processor experiment implemented a protocol-equivalent circuit and observed modeled energy expectations; its deferred-measurement circuit did not physically transmit a separated classical outcome or power an external load.[1][2][3]
Structural Signature¶
- Correlated resource and energy baseline: The original cases use an entangled spin-chain ground state or a field vacuum. A model specifies what the allowed receiver-local action can extract before the sender's outcome is known. A globally minimal state need not make every reduced local state a minimum-energy state. The resource must support an information-dependent gain under the protocol's stated operations.[1][2]
- Sender's local measurement: A measurement at one region produces an outcome and, in the two original models, injects positive energy into the system. Without an outcome carrying usable correlation information, the receiver cannot select the prescribed conditional action.[1][2]
- Classical communication: The sender announces the outcome to the receiver. This is an ordinary causal channel, not superluminal signaling. Its timing relative to physical system evolution is model dependent.[1][2]
- Conditioned receiver operation: The receiver applies an allowed local action chosen from the outcome. A fixed unconditioned operation does not yield the cited spin-chain energy gain under the same conditions. The measurement and operation are roles in a protocol, not an assertion that the entire protocol is a single quantum operation.[1][2]
- Receiver energy gain with accounting: The receiver apparatus obtains a positive modeled energy gain without violating total-energy or causal constraints. Local negative-energy expectations are diagnostics in the original models; no particular numerical efficiency or negative-energy formula is a universal role of every QET extension.[1][2]
What It Is Not¶
QET is not ordinary quantum-state teleportation. Reconstructing a quantum state at a receiver does not by itself demonstrate receiver-side energy extraction; Hotta motivates QET partly by distinguishing the two tasks. Nor is it simply catching a positive-energy excitation that propagates from the sender: the field proposal explicitly permits the initial positive-energy wave packets to pass Bob before he receives the outcome and acts. A scheme in which the receiver can extract the same energy by the same local action without the sender's outcome lacks the information-conditioned contrast that makes QET distinctive.[1][2]
The operational claim is bounded by the Hamiltonian, initial state, admissible local operations, timing, and energy reference. It should not be rephrased as "all local energy is zero," "the reduced state is at minimum energy," or "energy can be created from information alone." Those shortcuts discard the conditions that make the derived positive gain meaningful.[1][2]
Scope of Application¶
The original spin-chain setting treats interacting spins in a near-critical ground state, with a local projective measurement and a conditioned local spin operation over a short interval in which chain evolution is neglected. The field setting uses a free massless scalar field in 1+1 dimensions, a local general measurement, propagating wave packets, and a later conditioned unitary. They are unlike full theoretical realizations of the same sequence of roles; neither proves the other model's timing approximation or energy equation.[1][2]
QET has also been studied on real superconducting quantum hardware. Ikeda reports negative energy expectation values on several IBM processors, using a deferred-measurement circuit equivalent to the conditional protocol. That is significant hardware evidence for the model's observable predictions. It is not a third example of a physically separated sender's classical announcement reaching a remote load, so it is kept as corroboration rather than used to fill the literal communication role in the two full examples.[3]
Clarity¶
The structure clarifies what the word "teleportation" is doing. The sender does not hand Bob a prepacked unit of energy through an invisible channel. The sender's outcome selects which receiver action can draw positive energy from the correlated system under the model's local energy accounting. The protocol separates measurement energy injection, classical message transmission, receiver-local action, and energy gained by the receiver apparatus. Reporting these separately prevents the message's informational role from being confused with an energy carrier or an instant physical transfer.[1][2]
Manages Complexity¶
The method organizes a many-body or field problem into a causal sequence that can be analyzed locally. The initial state fixes the correlation resource; a measurement supplies a finite outcome; a classical channel carries that outcome; a conditional receiver operation is chosen; and a local energy observable tests the result. Hotta's spin-chain calculation obtains a positive average receiver gain when its correlation parameter is nonzero. The field calculation tracks positive and negative wave packets as well as the receiver apparatus. The common protocol is simpler than either model's full Hamiltonian, but its tests still require each model's assumptions and equations.[1][2]
Abstract Reasoning¶
The transferable question is counterfactual: does the outcome-conditioned action extract energy that the corresponding unconditioned receiver action cannot, with total and local energy accounting held fixed? If the answer is no, sender information was not doing the work claimed by QET. If a gain is calculated, the next checks are whether the outcome could arrive in time, whether the receiver action is local and permitted, and where energy enters and leaves. This reasoning applies to both discrete spins and continuous fields without treating their negative-energy formulas as identical.[1][2]
Knowledge Transfer¶
The protocol suggests a way to design or audit another proposed correlated quantum energy-extraction setting. Identify the initial resource and locally passive comparison, specify the sender's measurement and message, compare conditional with unconditioned receiver operations, and calculate energy in the same declared model. One cannot transfer the spin-chain short-time approximation to a relativistic field, or carry a hardware circuit's measured expectation values over to a claim of usable remote power, without separate evidence.[1][2][3]
Examples¶
Interacting spin chain, theoretical. Hotta starts from an entangled near-critical chain ground state. Alice projects a local spin, injects energy, and obtains outcome μ. She announces μ over a classical channel. Bob applies a μ-dependent local spin operation before ordinary chain dynamics carries the excitation to him in the model's short-time regime. Under a nonzero two-point correlation condition, the local energy expectation near Bob becomes negative relative to the chosen zero, corresponding to positive calculated energy released to his apparatus. The example requires the stated timing and correlation assumptions; it is not a report of a built energy network.[1]
Scalar-field local vacuum, theoretical. Hotta's free 1+1-dimensional scalar field begins in its vacuum. Alice's local general measurement creates positive-energy wave packets and an outcome n. The packets may pass Bob before he receives n. Bob then applies an n-dependent localized unitary; the calculation gives positive energy to his apparatus and a negative-energy field packet in his region. This case handles relativistic field evolution explicitly and uses a general measurement, unlike the spin-chain project's short-time projection setting.[2]
Superconducting circuit, bounded corroboration. Ikeda ran QET-model circuits on IBM superconducting hardware and reported negative energy expectation values with error mitigation. The executed circuit used deferred measurement to implement the same conditional dependence mathematically. It did not require a physically transmitted, spacelike separated classical message during execution, and the reported observable is not a demonstration that a distant external load received usable power. This case tests a model prediction and implementation route, while the first two cases supply the complete literal protocol role maps.[3]
Structural Tensions¶
No universal opposed pressure is asserted. The spin-chain proposal requires action within a short interval relative to chain evolution, while the field proposal works through explicit propagation and message timing. The distinction is an operating-condition test, not evidence of a common optimization tension in which improving one property necessarily worsens another across all QET models.[1][2]
Structural–Framed Character¶
On the structural–framed spectrum, QET has a repeatable structure: correlated resource, measurement outcome, causal announcement, conditioned receiver action, and energy gain against an unconditioned comparison. It also carries high evaluative weight: a proposed instance must calculate a positive gain under a declared Hamiltonian, local operations, timing, and apparatus account.[1][2] Its human-practice dependence lies in specifying and implementing that protocol and interpreting the energy readout, though the modeled physical correlation does not depend on an institution's recognition. QET has no necessary institutional origin; an experimental laboratory or publisher can report an instance but does not constitute the mechanism.
The vocabulary of information-conditioned action travels beyond this quantum setting, while the named protocol's energy claim does not travel without quantum states, local observables, and energy equations. On import versus recognition, an analyst can recognize an instance by testing the role sequence and counterfactual gain; constructing a new instance requires importing a specified measurement, message, receiver control rule, and energy-accounting procedure. The portable skeleton of conditional action remains a future-Prime question unless a live Prime passes its full parent test. It does not confer unsupported cross-domain scope on QET.
Its character: strongly structured and physically framed. The shared sequence explains why spin-chain and field protocols belong together, while each model's energy baseline, timing, and allowed local operations determine whether that sequence actually releases energy at its receiver.[1][2]
Structural Core vs. Domain Accent¶
The structural core is information-conditioned local action on a correlated resource, evaluated by a counterfactual gain test. The domain accent is exact quantum energy accounting: Hamiltonians, ground/vacuum conditions in the original cases, local operations, and negative local-energy diagnostics within those models.[1][2] A portable conditional-action skeleton remains a future-Prime question. This named protocol remains domain-specific because a quantum energy gain under specified operations is essential. Its approved Energy Transfer parent names only the receiver-local system-to-apparatus release, not the entire sender-to-receiver protocol.
Instantiates / Related Primes¶
This entry is part of Energy Transfer.
The cited protocols use a measurement outcome to select the receiver operation, and they rely on initial correlations.[1][2] This makes Information, Measurement, and Relation relevant Prime neighbors, but their full signatures have not been proved as strict direct parents here. The live Quantum Measurement names a real sender-side constituent, yet its strict Prime Measurement ancestor requires a primary-standard calibration chain and an explicit systematic/random uncertainty budget that neither idealized Hotta protocol supplies. Quantum Operation remains a component candidate without a complete full-signature proof. The sole approved strict edge is composition with Energy Transfer: a modeled positive E_B passes locally from the chain or field to Bob's apparatus through his conditioned operation, with local energy accounting.[1][2] Neither source says Alice's initial positive-energy excitation physically travels to Bob as the gain.[1][2]

Quantum Energy Teleportation is part of Energy Transfer Domain-specific
Bob's local system-to-apparatus energy transfer is an identity-bearing constituent of both original QET protocols. In Hotta's spin-chain and field protocols, a conditioned local operation releases positive modeled energy E_B from the chain or field to Bob's apparatus, with a declared local boundary, interaction, and conservation account. Removing this local transfer eliminates the protocol's claimed receiver gain; Energy Transfer also occurs without QET. This constituent does not assert direct physical transport of Alice's injected excitation to Bob or a working external power load.

Not to Be Confused With¶
- Quantum-state teleportation: transfers state information under its own protocol; receiver energy gain is an additional, separately tested claim.[1]
- Direct excitation transport: a positive-energy wave physically reaches the receiver; the field QET proposal can operate after Alice's initial packet has passed Bob.[2]
- Superluminal signaling: Bob's conditioned choice depends on classical information that must arrive causally.[1][2]
- Hardware circuit equivalence: a deferred-measurement circuit can reproduce a conditional model without literally implementing a separated classical-message step during execution.[3]
