URL¶
A Uniform Resource Identifier that identifies a resource through a scheme-specific description of how and where it can be accessed.
Core Idea¶
URLs combine a scheme with authority, path, query and fragment components under syntax and normalization rules; they are references, not guarantees that a resource exists, is immutable or returns the same representation. A parser resolves the reference against any base URL, normalizes and encodes components under the chosen scheme, locates an authority or resource path and supplies the resulting identifier to an access protocol or handler. The abstraction is therefore identified by a declared carrier, a transformation or constraint over that carrier, and an invariant that tells an analyst whether the named structure is genuinely present.
