Use (law)¶
A historical equitable property arrangement in which one person holds legal title for the benefit or purposes of another.
Core Idea¶
Medieval and early-modern uses predate and contributed to the trust, and incidents, enforcement and statutory treatment vary by jurisdiction and period.[1] A transfer places seisin in a feoffee while equity recognizes a duty to apply possession and profits for the beneficiary, separating legal title from beneficial enjoyment. The abstraction is therefore identified by a declared carrier, a transformation or constraint over that carrier, and an invariant that tells an analyst whether the named structure is genuinely present.

What It Is Not¶
