Induction-Assisted Rehabilitation Session¶
Structured session (a domain implementation) — instantiates Reopened Malleability Window
Delivers prevalidated corrective training time-locked to a verified malleability window, in one structured session — the place where the reopening and the intended input actually meet.
A reopened window is worthless unless the right input arrives while it is open. Induction-Assisted Rehabilitation Session is the delivery vehicle: the single structured session in which a prevalidated corrective protocol is brought together with a verified labile interval and delivered inside it. Its distinguishing move is time-locking — the corrective input is staged and ready in advance, then released only during the confirmed window, so that installation happens when the system can actually incorporate it rather than before it has opened or after it has reclosed. It is a domain implementation, not a universal method: it executes the pairing at the bedside, while the schedule, verification, and stop authority that make it safe live in separate mechanisms.
Example¶
A patient two years past a stroke has plateaued with a weak, clumsy hand — ordinary therapy stopped producing gains months ago. In an induction-assisted session, a priming step is used to open a bounded plastic interval in the relevant motor system, verified as open by a separate panel; the moment it confirms, the therapist delivers a dense block of task-specific reaching-and-grasping practice, tightly targeted at the exact movement being rebuilt, and nothing else. The session is paced to pack that corrective input into the open interval and to stop as the window narrows, closing with a quiet consolidation rest rather than more drilling. The point is not that more practice happened — it is that the practice landed while the system was briefly able to rewire, exploiting the metaplastic state the induction created.[1] Run the identical drill with no window open, and it is just ordinary therapy wearing a new label.
How it works¶
What sets the session apart is what it delivers, and exactly when:
- Stage before inducing — the corrective protocol is prevalidated and fully prepared before induction begins, so no improvisation happens inside the hazardous interval.
- Deliver only on a verified window — the input is released on the confirmation that the window is genuinely open, not on the clock and not on the assumption that induction worked.
- Pack and stop — corrective input is concentrated into the open interval and delivery ends as the window narrows, handing the labile state to a consolidation rest and the monitoring mechanisms.
Tuning parameters¶
- Pairing latency — how quickly training follows the confirmed opening. Too soon and the window may not be fully open; too late and it has begun to reclose.
- Within-window dose — how much corrective input is packed in. More can install more change but risks fatiguing the labile state or overrunning the interval.
- Input specificity — how tightly the training targets the exact desired configuration. Sharp specificity installs the right thing; loose, generic activity invites the window to absorb noise.
- Single session vs. coupled block — one session or a repeated series of coupled openings. Repetition can deepen installation but multiplies the exposure to a hazardous state.
When it helps, and when it misleads¶
Its strength is concentration: it puts clean, prevalidated corrective input exactly where and when the system can take it up, converting a verified window into installed change instead of a wasted opening. It is where the whole pattern either pays off or doesn't.
Its failure mode is the archetype's core hazard made concrete — a labile system incorporates whatever arrives, so a noisy, distressing, or poorly-specified session installs the wrong configuration more strongly than ordinary training ever could. The classic misuse is running the session on schedule regardless of whether the window actually verified open, so that either nothing is installed or, worse, something is installed into a state nobody confirmed was safe. The discipline is to deliver only on an independently verified window, keep the corrective input clean and pre-specified, and leave monitoring and the authority to stop to the mechanisms built for them.
How it implements the components¶
The session realizes the archetype's delivery component — the act of pairing, executed in a real domain:
corrective_input_pairing_plan— it readies the prevalidated corrective input and delivers it during the verified interval; the pairing is not planned here but performed here.
It does NOT verify the window is open (Reopening-Signal Verification Panel), sequence the overall induce–verify–pair–rest–close timeline (Trigger-to-Training Coupling Schedule), or hold the authority to halt mid-session (Adaptive Stop, Reclosure, and Rescue Protocol) — the session consumes all three.

Notes¶
This is an implementation, not an endorsement. The specific induction it uses and the safety requirements around it stay domain-qualified — a session that works for motor rehabilitation says nothing about what trigger, dose, or contraindications apply in another domain. Lifting the session template into a new field without re-deriving its trigger model and contraindications is how a safe procedure becomes an unsafe one.

[1] Metaplasticity — prior activity shifts the threshold and direction of subsequent plasticity, so a system can be primed into a state where later training takes hold more strongly. It is the real principle behind time-locking training to an induced window, and why when the input arrives matters as much as what it is. ↩
