Example¶
After a database migration, a site-reliability team placed the service under an elevated-monitoring regime: tightened alert thresholds, a dedicated on-call rotation, and hourly dashboard reviews. The migration is now stable, and the extra vigilance is expensive and fatiguing — but simply dropping it risks going blind to a latent migration bug. Rather than "just ease off," the team fills in a taper plan template. Baseline: the current tightened thresholds and staffing. How it works¶
What distinguishes the template from every executing mechanism around it is that it is a schema of fields, not a decision or a level ladder. A taper that cannot be written into these fields is a taper that has not actually been designed. Tuning parameters¶

It gives a review board and a successor owner a common shape to read.
