Capacity-Recovery Interval¶
Core Idea¶
A capacity-recovery interval is a bounded suspension or sharp reduction of load entered while a system remains capable of continuing. A restorative process rebuilds capacity during the interval, and a capacity-based exit condition governs resumption. The system accepts less output now to prevent forced incapacity and enable more effective action later.
Broad Use¶
The structure appears in military operational pauses, athletic deloads and tapers, adaptation and consolidation intervals, code or deploy freezes, organizational resets, and evolved dormancy or torpor.
Clarity¶
The abstraction distinguishes a chosen pre-failure halt from a forced post-failure stoppage. Entry while still capable, real restorative work, and a capacity-based exit—not visible inactivity—decide membership.

The pattern becomes four parameters: entry trigger, amount of load reduction, restorative process, and exit condition.
Abstract Reasoning¶
Identify the capacity being depleted, locate the latest recoverable entry window before continued loading becomes net harmful, specify how reduced load restores capacity, and tie resumption to evidence rather than elapsed time.

The same distinction between pre-failure restoration and post-failure recovery applies to operations, physiology, technical systems, and organizations.
Example¶
An athletic deload begins while the athlete can still train, lowers load while repair proceeds, and ends when performance capacity recovers. An injury-forced layoff after breakdown is Recovery instead.
