The Diagnostic Story

Symptom: The message was delivered but not received. Feedback is so softened that the recipient later says they didn't realize there was a serious problem. Refusals are indirect enough that the requester keeps pressing. Or the correction lands with enough public bluntness that it triggers shame, defensiveness, and a breakdown in future cooperation.
