The Diagnostic Story

Symptom: People have the skills and motivation, but sustained focused engagement will not emerge. Some are bored and drifting; others are overwhelmed and avoidant. Feedback arrives too late to guide the next action, and every time concentration begins to build an interruption breaks it and the reconstruction cost is high.

Pivot: Treat boredom, overwhelm, and fragmented attention as signals about the designed environment, not personal traits. Calibrate challenge to current skill, clarify the immediate goal, install timely feedback, define which interruptions are legitimate, and create a recovery routine so disruptions do not destroy the full session.

Resolution: Sustained focused engagement becomes possible because the task is demanding enough to matter, reachable enough to attempt, and feedback-rich enough to guide adjustment. Attention is rebuilt efficiently after unavoidable interruptions. The channel must be recalibrated as skill grows, or it becomes stale and engagement drifts back out.
