Scope of Application¶

Use the label in comparative ontology only when the source text supports both monist unity and constitutive, dynamically related polarity.

Clarity¶

The concept is a conjunction, not a midpoint: one reality is the ontological commitment, and necessary polarity is its mode of expression. If either half is absent, the label overreaches. Comparisons should quote the tradition's own account rather than infer dialectics from any paired vocabulary.

Manages Complexity¶

The model compresses many oppositions into a unity without eliminating their causal or conceptual work. Its danger is overassimilation: a tidy structural pattern can hide differences between process, substance, social contradiction, cosmology, and religious meaning.

Test mutual dependence rather than simple coexistence.

Unity-through-polarity is transferable as a comparison tool across metaphysical systems. The stopping rule is textual: it does not license calling every duality dialectical or treating Sartrean, Marxist, and Nahua commitments as synonyms.
