Catalytic Pairing¶
Pair factors so one increases the effectiveness of the other beyond what either achieves alone.
The Diagnostic Story¶
Symptom: An intervention that looked strong on paper keeps producing disappointing real-world results, so the response is to add more of it — but marginal returns keep falling. Meanwhile two separate initiatives are each claiming credit for an outcome that neither can reliably produce alone, and when the combined program is transplanted to a new context it fails because the enabling condition didn't travel with it.
Pivot: Name the focal effect to be improved, identify the potentiating factor that amplifies it, and design the timing and coupling conditions that make the interaction work — then evaluate the paired condition against independent baselines.
Resolution: The pairing produces higher effect from existing resources, and the interaction logic is now explicit enough to transfer. Evaluation measures the right thing — the interaction effect — rather than each ingredient separately, so the system stops mistaking ordinary bundling for true potentiation.

Diagnostic problem

What this problem means
