Translate ethical expectations across contexts without assuming one norm system automatically applies unchanged.

The Diagnostic Story

Symptom: The same ethical language is accepted by all parties but leads to incompatible practices on the ground. A headquarters policy arrives locally as something arbitrary, naive, or disrespectful of context. A local exception starts as a reasonable adaptation and quietly becomes a broad escape from accountability. Stakeholder consultations gather stories but produce no change in the rule, safeguard, or stated rationale.

Pivot: Map the norm systems in play, clarify where they overlap and where they conflict, establish which protections are non-negotiable across contexts, and adapt the action to the receiving context with an explicit rationale rather than silent substitution. Document what was translated and why, and define what would trigger a review.

Resolution: Action becomes context-sensitive while the protection floor holds. The ethical conflict map is explicit rather than buried in ambiguous language that everyone signs and no one interprets the same way.
