Geometric Primitives Vocabulary Constraint

Limit the available formal vocabulary to a small alphabet of primitive units, then create expressive range by composing, repeating, scaling, aligning, and transforming those units rather than adding new decorative forms.

The Diagnostic Story

Symptom: A design or modular system keeps growing because each local problem gets solved by adding a new shape, icon, or component rather than recombining existing ones. The family of artifacts loses coherence, teams debate individual aesthetics because there is no shared grammar, and what was supposed to be minimal starts feeling arbitrary or inconsistent.

Pivot: Define a minimal primitive alphabet and a finite grammar of allowed transformations, then require all larger forms to be composed from that vocabulary. New primitives are admitted only when they express a distinction that cannot be made by recombining or transforming existing ones.

Resolution: Artifacts across the family become recognizably related because they share the same constructive grammar. Complexity stays legible, teams make fewer arbitrary decisions because there are explicit rules to check against, and minimalism remains expressive by shifting variety from ornament to composition, spacing, scale, and relation.
