A recurring review after the window closes that locks temporary uptake into durable form so the substrate's new state does not revert.
The Post-Window Consolidation Review works after the window, on the change that was taken up, to make it stick. Its defining idea is that initial uptake is not durable change: a substrate that absorbed a new practice, capability, or norm inside the window will drift back toward its prior state unless the gain is reinforced, embedded, and given somewhere to live. The review is the recurring ritual that takes the fresh, fragile new substrate state and converts it into something structural — a habit, a memory, an infrastructure, a norm, a support channel — so the shift outlasts the receptive moment that produced it. It is not the brake that ended the intervention and not the audit that re-tunes the timing model; it is the step that turns a temporary opening into a lasting one.

A chemical plant has a near miss — a valve lined up wrong, caught before it caused a release. The shock opens a receptivity window: for a few weeks, operators, supervisors, and management are unusually willing to change how the line is run. During the window the team redesigns the valve-lineup procedure, adds a physical interlock, and re-trains the crews. Uptake is real — but attention decays, and the plant has seen post-incident fixes quietly erode before. The Post-Window Consolidation Review is a standing ritual that runs at 30, 90, and 180 days after the window closed. Each session checks whether the new substrate state is holding: is the interlock still in place and un-bypassed, is the revised procedure the actual practice or just the documented one, has the training been folded into onboarding so new hires inherit it? Where a gain is slipping, the review re-anchors it — into the permit system, the audit schedule, the standard work. The outcome is that the redesign becomes how the plant simply operates, rather than a memory of the month after the scare.
How it works¶
The distinctive machinery is a scheduled, recurring durability check on the new substrate state.
