Lead Support Channel Orchestration¶
Make one channel carry the foreground task while companion channels deliberately support it through calibrated salience, timing, register, redundancy, and interruption rules.
Purpose¶
Use this archetype when several simultaneous channels carry related content and the receiver needs a clear figure-ground relation: one channel leads, while the others reinforce, pace, contextualize, translate, warn, or make the lead accessible without competing with it.

Invariants to preserve¶
The receiver can tell what to follow first. Support channels make the lead easier to perceive, interpret, remember, or act on. Support does not secretly reframe or contradict the lead. Accessibility and safety channels are not suppressed by aesthetic hierarchy. Planned handoffs and emergency takeovers are recognizable.
Target outcomes¶
A multichannel artifact or process becomes clearer without becoming flatter. Receivers get the benefit of redundancy, context, emotion, and accessibility while avoiding equal-weight clutter and accidental channel conflict.
Tradeoffs¶
Strong hierarchy clarifies priority but may suppress productive polyphony. Rich support can increase meaning but also increases overload risk. Exception channels improve safety but can destroy hierarchy if every support lane can interrupt. Accessibility may require different lead/support assignments for different receivers.

Support channel hijack, ambiguous lead, timing collision, false redundancy, aesthetic subordination of accessibility, and exception-channel flood.

A melody with accompaniment, a speaker with slides, a dashboard with a primary status metric, a command room with support streams, and a multimodal public warning can all fit. A backend event bus, independent equal-status chat streams, or an artwork designed for unresolved polyphony usually does not.
