Sense Experience Reduction Protocol¶
Translate a claim about an object, property, or state into the experiences or observations that would occur under specified access conditions.
The Diagnostic Story¶
Symptom: A concept, construct, or state is named and treated as real, but nobody can say what would actually be experienced if it were present. Different observers use the same term while expecting different confirmations; measurement procedures generate numbers without any account of what a participant, observer, or instrument would actually encounter. Arguments stall around whether something is real rather than around what access conditions would make the question answerable.
Pivot: Convert the target claim into a disciplined map of access conditions, observer or instrument roles, expected possible experiences, contrastive experiences that would distinguish this claim from alternatives, uncertainty boundaries, and update rules. The goal is to give the claim experiential content without pretending every theoretical entity can be directly observed — the map clarifies where the claim is grounded and where it is inference.
Resolution: Object and state claims become clearer and more testable because the access conditions are explicit. Disputes shift from vague assertion to concrete questions about what different hypotheses predict about what would be encountered. The organization can distinguish claims that are meaningful but currently inaccessible from claims that have no experiential content at all.
